No New Bloodborne Because Miyazaki ‘Doesn’t Want Anyone Else to Touch it’

For anyone wondering why we haven’t seen a Bloodborne remake/remaster, PC port or sequel, it’s apparently because director Hidetaka Miyazaki doesn’t want anyone else to touch it. This is according to SIE Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida, who claimed that the reason we haven’t seen anything new for Bloodborne is because Miyazaki really loves the IP and due to his busy schedule, hasn’t found the time to work on it.

“Miyazaki-san really really loved Bloodborne, what he created,” said Yoshida in a recent interview with Kinda Funny Games. “So I think he is interested but he’s so successful and so busy so he cannot do it himself and he doesn’t want anyone else to touch it. So that’s my theory and the PlayStation team respects his wish… I’m not revealing any secret information.”

Fans were initially on-board with the idea that Sony-owned studio Bluepoint, which made 2020’s acclaimed Demon’s Souls remake, could develop a full remake of Bloodborne. However, if Yoshida is correct, then Miyazaki wants to handle such a task under From Software’s guidance and creative hand instead of outsourcing it to another studio.

This kind of contradicts previous comments from Miyazaki who claimed that it’s ultimately up to Sony to make the call about a Bloodborne remaster or PC port. “Obviously, as one of the creators of Bloodborne, my personal, pure honest opinion is I’d love more players to be able to enjoy it,” said Miyazaki in a previous interview with PC Gamer.

“Especially as a game that is now coming of age, one of those games of the past that gets lost on older hardware—I think any game like that, it’d be nice to have an opportunity for more players to be able to experience that and relive this relic of the past,” he added. “So as far as I’m concerned, that’s definitely not something I’d be opposed to.”

Either way, From Software is working on multiple projects at the moment but it doesn’t seem like there are any plans for Bloodborne in motion.
