NVIDIA Dates its RTX 40 Series SUPER Announcement

NVIDIA is ready to show off its new RTX 40 Series SUPER lineup. While the company has not confirmed the existence of the new SUPER GPUs, they are likely the worst-kept secret of 2024 at this rate given all models have already leaked online – specs and all.

According to the leaks, NVIDIA will announce an RTX 4070 SUPER, RTX 4070 SUPER Ti and RTX 4080 SUPER during its reveal. The announcement is set to kick off on 8 January at 18:00 CAT / 8 am PT.

What can you expect from these new cards? Well, the RTX 40 Series SUPER lineup are bumped-up versions of the current 40-series models on the market. This means they include a higher memory bus than the existing RTX 4070/4080 cards. The RTX 4080 SUPER, for example, is rumoured to ship with a 320-bit memory bus and the RTX 4070 SUPER includes a 256-bit memory bus.

The RTX 4080 SUPER is rumoured to pack 20GB of VRAM while the RTX 4070 includes 16GB of VRAM. That is up from 16GB on the RTX 4080 and 12GB on the RTX 4070. The cards will generally provide modest improvements over the current lineup.

Keep in mind that NVIDIA hasn’t released SUPER models since the 20-series GPUs. The RTX 30-Series ditched the SUPER range. This was likely due to the semiconductor shortage which crippled the industry during the time. NVIDIA opted to create Ti models for the 30-series cards instead.

We will know more about the new NVIDIA SUPER range in a few days when the company unveils the lineup and the official specs. You can watch the live stream on Twitch.
