PC gaming enthusiasts are patiently awaiting the release of the GeForce RTX range which will wreck wallets everywhere later this month. Even though the RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti will be the two most powerful graphics cards on the market, we all know some will want even more power. That’s where the new NVIDIA Scanner tech comes into play.

Overclocking has always been something of a risk. Many gamers simply don’t feel comfortable pushing their cards to the limit. Unless you are a pretty hardcore pc gaming enthusiast, overclocking simply might not be your thing. With the release of graphics cards based on the Turing architecture, NVIDIA is releasing a new overclocking Scanner technology which aims to take the hassle out of overclocking.
The NVIDIA Scanner basically stress tests a graphics card in roughly 20 minutes and creates a final overclock profile. NVIDIA claims this profile is stable in 99% of all games. In a demonstration which you can view at the bottom of this article, NVIDIA’s Tom Petersen overclocked a GeForce RTX 2080 from roughly 1600MHz to over 2100MHz. This feat was achieved without any power tweaks. This indicates the GPUs can go even further if you want to get into the thick of overclocking.
The awesome technology goes even further by eliminating the need to reboot your system when a failure does occur. It also creates a clock speed voltage curve, showing what the GPU is capable of at various voltages.
But what if you are set in your ways with the likes of MSI Afterburner and co? Well, the NVIDIA Scanner tech will get implemented in AIB overclocking utilities. Therefore, you can still use your favourite overclocking utilities with NVIDIA Scanner tech.
