The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered Voice Acting Blooper

Oblivion Remastered Keeps a Classic Voice Acting Blooper

Earlier this week, Bethesda and Virtuos shadow dropped the long-awaited The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, delivering the same experience we remember, only with a great visual facelift and some tweaked gameplay mechanics. However, the core of the original game remains in tact for the most part, including some errors and bugs that were left in for one reason or another. One classic voice acting blooper has actually been kept in the remaster.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered does include newly recorded voice acting but much of its original dialogue has also been left untouched, including a bloober from one particular line that’s become a classic in the community. When visiting the Temple of the One in the Imperial City Temple District, players can find an NPC named Tandilwe (who, ironically enough, is a Master Speechcraft trainer).

After exhausting their dialogue, Tandilwe’s voice actor makes an error and says, “I heard that thieves broke into the Arcane University, the Imperial Legion Compound, and the Temple, all on the same night. Wait a minute, let me do that one again… I heard that thieves broke into the Arcane University, the Imperial Legion Compound, and the Temple, all on the same night.”

The recorded dialogue for this blooper seemingly went unnoticed by Bethesda, resulting in it being kept in the final release. Developer Virtuos decided to keep this voice acting mistake in the remaster as well, which is hilarious because its inclusion is absolutely intentional this time. Perhaps Virtuos wanted to remind players that the core experience of Oblivion hasn’t been touched in the slightest, even if it means keeping some of its unintentional comedy in the jank.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is now available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. It’s also available on Game Pass. A Nintendo Switch 2 version is reportedly also being planned.
