Last night Sony published their official PS5 pre-order page. Before you get excited, no, you can’t do anything on it right now other than sign up for a chance to pre-order your console. There’s no pricing, release date and you cannot add anything to your cart. Instead, the PlayStation 5 pre-order site lets users sign up for a chance to purchase their consoles and accessories from Sony directly. This is a system we have heard the company was working on for some time now.

The site includes a list of terms and conditions. Firstly users would have to enter their PSN ID into the field in which their pre-order is locked behind. In addition, users are only able to pre-order one console. However, they can order a handful of accessories and multiple of them should they wish to do so. This includes.
- 1 PS5 console or Digital Edition
- 2 DualSense Wireless Controllers
- 2 DualSense charging stations
- 2 Pulse 3D wireless headsets
- 2 Media remotes
- 2 HD cameras
The PS5 pre-order FAQ also states that once a user receives their invitation to pre-order through the site, it comes with an expiry date. There’s also free shipping for users with PlayStation Plus subscriptions which is a nice incentive Sony is throwing in. However, if you live outside the US, the site claims to only support US-bases states for now.
We are not sure if there is going to be specific localized versions of this site for South Africa and other countries. So far it could be the case. With the limited PlayStation 5 stock, Sony wants control over the pre-orders and by operating through one main hub, this is possible.
This site could be the first of many new things the company are doing to prep for the console’s launch. Sure, we still don’t have a price and release date but things are getting there. Perhaps the company is announcing something tonight at the Gamescom Opening Night Live event? We doubt it but are still hopeful.
