Only one day after the conclusion of the Dota 2WePlay! tournament, the OGA Dota PIT 2020 kicked off with 12 ‘direct invite’ teams taking part. The teams are split into two groups, with the top five of each going through to the finals bracket. Here’s a rundown of the day one.

OGA Dota PIT 2020
- Game One: HR vs OG – HellRaisers had put an impressive group round in WePlay!, with OG not even making the finals in an unexpectedly poor performance. Today though, it was the OG of old – 2-0 with wins in 27 and 22 minutes. Both games saw OG run an Earthshaker/Enchantress/Luna line-up to great success, countering everything HR threw at them in a dominant display.
- Game Two: Vikin.GG vs FTM – FTM had qualified for WePlay1 after the withdrawal of Gambit Esports and were on the right side of luck again, taking the place of Na’Vi. Vikin.GG had made a small name for themselves after a strong ESL ONE: LA competition, but have had mixed results over the last two weeks in lower tier competitions. 1-1 after two rounds, with FTM racing out to a 24 minute win followed by a 40 minute Vikin.GG win. Game three was a lighting performance from FTM, taking the win in 23 minutes.
- Game Three: Secret vs VP – the number one team in the world showed just why they have that ranking. Only a day after 3-0 finals win at WePlay! against VP.Prodigy, Secret swept the floor with VP – 23 and 25 minute wins around Keeper of the Light/Rubick combos.
- Game Four: Liquid vs NiP – a proper slugfest in the fourth game of the day. Both Liquid and NiP have figured out they play their best when they’re aggressive – Liquid took game one in 54 minutes with four of five players racking up at least 20 assists behind miCKe’s 15/6/20 Bristleback. NiP emulated the group-gank strategy in game two: 71 assists on 30 kills in just 25 minutes levelled the series at 1-1. NiP rode their momentum into game three, with Liquid unable to handle NiP’s 15/2/14 KDA Lycan. A solid start for NiP, looking to rebuild the franchise’s reputation after the full team change last month.
The action continues from 1 pm today with Hellraisers taking on FTM, Vikin.GG up against Alliance, VP against an aggressive NiP line-up, and Liquid looking to bounce back against TSpirit.
