The One Piece anime from Toei Animation is getting the remastered treatment starting with the Fishman Island saga, complete with touched up animation, re-shot scenes and a tighter pace. Additionally, Toei announced that the anime would be going on hiatus until April 2025 so work can be done on the remaster. The reworked arc will be a trimmed version of the familiar saga.
As reported by IGN, the One Piece anime will be going on hiatus until April 2025 with episode 1122 being the last to air for a while. From 27 October, Toei Animation will release The One Piece Log: Fishman Island Saga until 30 March 2025, with new episodes arriving each and every week. The arc will be completely re-edited and trimmed, cutting it down to 21 episodes – presumably sticking closer to the manga source material’s faster pace.
In addition to the remastered news, fans will also get ‘One Piece Fan Letter’ on 20 October, a 25th anniversary episode celebrating the legacy of One Piece. “This 30-minute ensemble drama depicts the reunion of the Straw Hats crew from the perspective of non-pirate characters,” reads the description. “Set in the Sabaody Archipelago after the Paramount War, the story follows its protagonist, a young girl and admirer of Nami, as she sets off on a small adventure.”

The remastered anime shouldn’t be confused with Netflix’s The One Piece, which will be a full remake of the anime from Attack on Titan animation company Wit Studio. There’s currently no word on when Wit’s remake will air.
In case you missed it, the live-action One Piece series on Netflix is currently filming its second season. Magic Mike’s Joe Manganiello has been cast as Crocodile while Lera Abova has been cast as Nico Robin.
