LEGO is working with Netflix to create One Piece sets based on the streaming service’s popular live-action series. The announcement showed a teaser of protagonist Monkey D. Luffy briefly in LEGO form, though details are light on the sets for now.
“Join us as we sail the seas of creativity and adventure, capturing the spirit of the Straw Hat crew in every build. A grand adventure awaits,” wrote LEGO in the official announcement. The One Piece sets don’t have a release date yet other than “coming soon” so we’ll have to wait for more information, including which characters will get the blocky treatment. So far, Monkey D. Luffy is the only confirmed character for the sets, though every Straw Hat member will likely get LEGO-fied.
Others believe that we might get a full set of the Going Merry to complement the LEGO Straw Hats, while others are hoping for side characters like Buggy, Dracule Mihawk and Arlong to also be added to the sets. If the LEGO sets are also including characters from the second season, there’s a good chance we’ll get Nico Robin and Crocodile too.

The second season of One Piece is currently filming in Cape Town, South Africa. As far as we know, the second season will adapt a good portion of the manga’s story, documenting the Straw Hats’ first adventures on the Grand Line. Season 2 will adapt Loguetown all the way to Drum Island, while it’s believed that season 3 will primarily focus on the Alabasta arc.
In related news, Nintendo is also collaborating with LEGO on a buildable Game Boy set to release later this year. Unfortunately we don’t know what it will look like yet in all its glory but we imagine it will be a big seller for collectors or those who feel nostalgic about the classic handheld device.
