One Piece Season 2 Production Kicks Off in Cape Town – Cast Set to Return

Production on season 2 of Netflix’s One Piece has officially kicked off in Cape Town, South Africa. The Straw Hat Pirates will return to take on the treacherous Grand Line and meet plenty of new faces along the way. Netflix has also confirmed that the cast from the first season will return to reprise their roles while some new actors are also joining the journey to portray familiar characters from the manga.

Season 2 of Netflix’s One Piece will see the return of Iñaki Godoy (Luffy), Mackenyu (Zoro), Emily Rudd (Nami), Jacob Romero (Usopp) and Taz Skylar (Sanji) along with Jeff Ward as Buggy, Michael Dorman as Gold Roger and Ilia Isorelys Paulino as Alvida.

Joining the cast of the next season will be Brendan Sean Murray as Brogy, Callum Kerr as Smoker, Camrus Johnson as Mr. 5, Clive Russell as Crocus, Daniel Lasker as Mr. 9, David Dastmalchian as Mr. 3, Jazzara Jaslyn as Miss Valentine, Julia Rehwald as Tashigi, Rob Colletti as Wapol, Ty Keogh as Dalton, and Werner Coetser as Dorry. Additional cast members, including the voice of Tony Tony Chopper and (hopefully) Jamie Lee Curtis as Dr. Kuraha, will be announced at a later date.

The official description of the show reads:

“Based on Japan’s highest-selling manga series in history by Eiichiro Oda, ONE PIECE is a legendary high-seas adventure unlike any other. Monkey D. Luffy is a young adventurer who has longed for a life of freedom since he can remember. Luffy sets off from his small village on a perilous journey to find the legendary fabled treasure, ONE PIECE, to become King of the Pirates! But in order to find the ultimate prize, Luffy will need to assemble the crew he’s always wanted before finding a ship to sail, searching every inch of the vast seas, outpacing the Marines, and outwitting dangerous rivals at every turn.”

Production is currently underway in Cape Town, South Africa where the first season was filmed. If previous reports are accurate, than both season 2 and 3 will be filmed back-to-back.
