Harry Potter: Magic Awakened

Open-World Harry Potter Game On Track for Late 2021 For PS5 and Xbox Series X

The Harry Potter game that leaked in late 2019 is still happening. According to Bloomberg, the game is currently deep in development and will see players explore a “vast open-world” alongside Hogwarts and its surrounding areas. This big-budget RPG is one of the most ambitious games created by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Avalanche Studios.

According to the reports, the upcoming Harry Potter game is scheduled to release late next year for PS5 and Xbox Series X. Warner Bros originally planned on announcing the game during E3 2020. However, due to the event cancellation, the publisher was forced to rework its publishing plan.

The report claims that the new plan is to announce the new Batman game in August during the digital DC FanDome stream. The Harry Potter game in question is set to be announced at a later date.  Perhaps the Game Awards 2020? With that being said, there is some concern surrounding series creator JK Rowling and her latest transphobic Twitter rants. The author has been in hot water in recent months due to hateful tweets targeting the trans community. Should this continue, Warner Bros. may face some nasty backlash for the game.

With that aside, the game is said to be one of the most ambitious Harry Potter games ever made. Players will be able to create their own student, enrol in Hogwarts, complete classes, quests and fight a new dark evil that threatens the world of magic. The leaked gameplay footage that popped up last year looked great. However, given the game’s shift to PS5 and Xbox Series X, we could be in for a magical experience. One that we have been waiting for since the series debuted back in the early 2000s.
