Our Top 10 Most-Anticipated Games of E3 2019

The Electronic Entertainment Expo will take place from 11 to 14 June this year and we simply can’t wait for the biggest gaming expo of the year to commence. There will be so many amazing games on show, new game announcements, release dates for upcoming titles and much, much more. As I can’t contain my hype any longer, it is now time to discuss our top 10 most-anticipated games of E3 2019 that will surely make an appearance at the expo.

Let’s kick things off with the most obvious of choices for our top 10 most-anticipated games of E3 2019, CD Project’s next mammoth game.

Cyberpunk 2077

We know for a fact that Cyberpunk 2077 will be at this year’s E3 and it is the most obvious choice for one of the most anticipated games of E3 2019, without a shadow of a doubt. Earlier this month, CD Projekt announced that the game will be at E3 2019 and this time, there will be both a behind-closed-doors showing and a public showing. Hopefully, we will get to see a release window for the game as well. Unfortunately, for those attending, Cyberpunk 2077 won’t have a public demo to play. Instead, the developers will be playing the game for the public.

Until Cyberpunk 2077 gets released, it will probably remain the most-anticipated game of every E3 going forward, but the hope is that the game could release in 2020. We will have to wait and see if CD Projekt does give us a release date. Until then, check out the amazing gameplay released after year’s E3 below.

DOOM Eternal

Bethesda has a lot going on and their E3 showcases are normally great to watch. However, we probably won’t see the likes of Starfield or The Elder Scrolls VI. What we will definitely see at the publisher’s press conference, however, is DOOM Eternal. In case you didn’t know, it is also the year of DOOM, as id Software is celebrating 25 years of their incredible FPS franchise.

Expect more gameplay, details and very likely a release date announcement for DOOM Eternal to be at E3 2019, complete with all the gibs you could ever dream of. Personally, I would love to see the BFG showcased. The press conference is going to be “a hell of a night” as described by the team, so we can expect a tonne of demons and a big DOOM Eternal feature. However, Bethesda might save some details or even the release date for QuakeCon 2019, which takes place in July.

Marvel’s Avengers

We will get our first look at Square Enix’s Avengers game called Marvel’s Avengers. This will be the first title in a multi-game partnership with Marvel and Square Enix recently confirmed the game’s worldwide reveal will take place at their press conference on 10 June at E3 this year.

Hopefully, Square Enix will do the Avengers IP justice as there is just so much history and great characters to use. Apparently, the Avengers Project will feature all the characters, iconic moments and environments from the Avengers film franchise. Further, the game will feature an original story taking place in the Marvel universe that gamers “can play in for years to come”.

Borderlands 3

The only real reason that Borderlands 3 is fourth on this list and not second (sorry, its not going to beat Cyberpunk 2077 if you ask me) is that we’ve already seen a lot about the game as Gearbox revealed so many details already, including hours of gameplay that you can view below.

At E3 2019, the developer is expected to show off an entirely new planet in Borderlands 3, as well as details on a Vault Hunter. With the game releasing on 13 September, E3 2019 is the perfect place to take the hype to the next level. Fans of the franchise will definitely see Borderlands 3 as one of, if not their top most-anticipated games of E3 2019 and looking at the gameplay reveal, who can blame them?

Dying Light 2

Techland announced Dying Light 2 at E3 last year and we haven’t seen much of the game since. However, the developer did confirm that the game will be at this year’s expo as well, instantly making it one of our top 10 most-anticipated games of E3 2019.

We know Dying Light 2 will have that awesome parkour movement, zombies galore and even branching storylines that change areas of the city depending on what decisions you make. That all sounds exciting but in the E3 2018 reveal trailer, we didn’t get to see the nighttime. That’s about to change at this year’s showcase, as Techland teased nighttime in April with the announcement that that Dying Light 2 will be at E3. In case you’ve been living under a pile of Zombies, check out the Dying Light 2 world premiere gameplay trailer from last year’s E3 below.

Beyond Good & Evil 2

Beyond Good & Evil 2 is the spiritual successor to the original cult classic that looks simply fantastic already and it would be strange if Ubisoft didn’t show off the game again at this year’s E3. We’ve already seen some gameplay, co-op play as well as exploration and Augments. Now, what we need next is a solid release window, but rumour has it the game is still a long way off and could even be a next-gen title.

The expo will be the perfect time for the game’s designer, Michel Ancel and his team, to show that Beyond Good & Evil 2 to the world. Why am I so excited about this? Well, it is a prequel to the original that we all know and love, featuring a gigantic open world with seamless transition between the planet exploration and the solar system.

Gears 5

With Sony not attending E3 2019, it is Microsoft’s E3 to win if they put up a great show. One of the biggest aspects of winning over fans is showcasing those big name exclusives and that is exactly what the Xbox team will probably do with the likes of Gears 5 and Halo Infinite. Microsoft has confirmed that Gears 5 will be at E3 2019 and invited attendees for an “inside look” for the game that is coming “later this year” to PC and Xbox One.

A recent box art leak features Kait Diaz as the main character judging by her position on the box art. Kait first appeared in Gears of War 4. Then, you also have Delmont Walker, J.D. Fenix and of course, old Marcus, as well as a character I am not quite sure about, with some reports pointing towards it being the Locust Queen Myrrah. As a big Gears of War fan, the next entry does sound exciting and we will hopefully see a lot more about the game at E3 this year.

The Outer Worlds

For fans of Fallout, especially New Vegas, The Outer Worlds from Obsidian Entertainment is probably the most anticipated game of E3. It looks like a sci-fi Fallout game where you can kill anyone and the developer even admitted that The Outer Worlds is the Fallout-like game people want.

The game will feature a branching story with player choice, various factions and some awesome-looking weapons, crafting, a survival mode and much more. It all sounds very exciting and at E3 2019, we will likely see more gameplay as well as a release date or release window announcement, as The Outer Worlds is set to release sometime this year.

Halo Infinite

Microsoft announced Halo Infinite at last year’s E3 and this year, we will likely see a lot more about the game, built on a new engine called Slipspace. It will be extremely exciting to see the game in action and hopefully 343 Industries will have some gameplay to share with us.

Halo Infinite isn’t expected to release this year but the next instalment in the legendary saga does sound great, with the campaign that will be “doubling down on Master Chief’s story” in a world that is said to be more compelling and realistic. Further, it has already been confirmed that the game will have four-player split-screen play and will feature no real-money loot boxes, which is always a good sign.

Final Fantasy VII Remake

Square Enix didn’t have the best E3 showing last year but this year they are going all out with both Marvel’s Avengers as mentioned earlier as well the Final Fantasy VII Remake. The Final Fantasy VII Remake won’t use a turn-based battle system but instead an active battle system, departing from the original.

It is one of the most exciting games of E3 2019 if you ask me and hopefully, we will hear much more this year, including a possible release date. Recent rumours have also suggested that a Final Fantasy VII Remake demo will be released at E3 for everyone, not just those who are attending the show.
