Outer Wilds Release Date Set For Next Week With Awesome Launch Trailer

I’ve been following Outer Wilds, developed by Mobius Digital ever since it’s crowdfunding campaign appeared on Fig, as it is one of those interesting titles that really just pulls you in. Instead of needing a multi-year calendar to mark for a release date, the developers announced that the Outer Wilds will release on 30 May 2019, so next week and I can’t be more excited.

So what is Outer Wilds? Well, it is a first-person space exploration game which sees players take on a sci-fi exploration camping trip. A very early version of the game even won the grand prize at the 2015 IGF Awards and the game boasts a handcrafted solar system (no procedural generation nonsense here) where you uncover the mysteries of this solar system which is stuck in an endless time loop. Sounds interesting, right?

The game will be released on Xbox One and PC, with the latter version being an Epic Games Store timed-exclusive. Right now, you can pre-purchase Outer Wilds on PC for just $10.99 which is roughly R160 and honestly, I am taking the pludge today and picking it up.

The game’s description reads:

Blast off into a fully physically simulated cosmos and seamlessly journey from one planet to the next as you search for the answers hidden in the unknown.

Equal parts Myst, Kerbal Space Program, and Majora’s Mask, Outer Wilds  puts you in the cockpit of a fledgling space program searching for the secrets of a wild, constantly changing solar system. Strap on your hiking boots, check your oxygen levels, and get ready to venture into space. [/perfectpullquote]
