Square Enix has announced that Outriders won’t make its 2 February 2021 release date. Instead, Outriders will now release on 1 April 2021. The publisher shared the news on Twitter claiming that the development team at People Can Fly will use the extra time to tune the game and focus on delivering a fantastic play experience at launch.

While players will have to wait over a month to play the full game, Square Enix and People Can Fly plan on releasing a free demo on 25 February 2021. According to Square Enix, they believe it is important for players to experience a new IP like Outriders “before” release. This allows players to decide for themselves whether the game is something they wish to pre-order purchase or play. Clearly, poking fun at CD Projekt RED and the recent Cyberpunk 2077 scandal.

However, there is a reason for concern here too. This marks the second delay Outriders has faced in recent months. The game was originally set to release in December last year but was pushed into February 2021. We can just hope that the 1 April 2021 release date stays in place and the demo which is coming our way is worth the wait. Gamers are no doubt burnt after the recent Cyberpunk 2077 drama and won’t be throwing money at delayed games as easily as before.
