Overwatch 2 is Getting a Beta in April and You Can Enlist Today

Blizzard has announced that Overwatch 2 will go into beta testing next month. The studio has revealed that it has plans to roll out the PvP aspect of Overwatch 2 before the PvE mode so they are testing this to see how it fairs in the wild.

In order to release Overwatch 2 sooner than they originally planned, the studio is focusing only on the development of PvP for the time being and will finish off the PvE work at a later date. However, this doesn’t mean Overwatch 2 will release this year as the official release window is still unclear.

At the moment, Overwatch 2 is kicking off a special alpha test for Blizzard employees, Overwatch League professionals and a few select individuals. In April, the close beta test will then open to more users and allow gamers to provide feedback on the game’s experience.

Blizzard says the Overwatch 2 beta test is being run to test out the new features in the game while also stress-testing the servers with a wide range of players at the same time. If you are an Overwatch veteran, the beta has a handful of new heroes and modes to enjoy. This includes the new Sojourn damage hero, 4 new maps and more.

  • New Damage Hero Sojourn
  • New Game Mode: Push
  • 5v5 Multiplayer
  • Hero Reworks for Orisa, Doomfist, Bastion, Sombra
  • 4 New Maps
    • Circuit Royal – Escort Map
    • Midtown – Hybrid Map
    • New Queen Street – Push Map
    • Colosseo – Push Map
  • New Ping System

Blizzard has confirmed that 5v5 is still the main plan for Overwatch 2’s multiplayer which marks the biggest change to the game’s PvP. This in addition to the hero reworks aims to provide a whole new experience in the game. Blizzard has also stated that the beta is the first step towards increasing communication with players and forming a relationship if updates on the game. Blizzard hasn’t shared much from Overwatch 2 since the announcements back in 2019

If you want to sign up for the beta you can head on over to the official Overwatch 2 site and register.
