Pac-Man Tetris Todd Howard Bethesda Most Important Games of All Time

Pac-Man and Tetris are The Most Important Games of All Time Says Bethesda’s Todd Howard

Bethesda Game Studios director Todd Howard believes Pac-Man and Tetris are the two most important video games of all time, while he called Doom and Super Mario Bros. the most influential. In many ways, it’s easy to see why these picks remain as iconic as they do in the gaming world.

Speaking to the BAFTA Games Awards in a recent Q&A, Todd Howard was asked what he believed were the most important games ever made. “First I think, the two most important games of all time are Tetris and Pac-Man for what they do for gaming overall and [for] bringing so many people to it,” he explained.

“For influential, I’m gonna go with Super Mario Bros. and Doom,” Howard added. “Two games where, if you trace things games are doing today, you can trace so much of that back to those games, both Super Mario Bros. and Doom.”

All four titles are considered classics today, responsible for influencing so many video games today and pushing the medium forward.

In related news, Bethesda Game Studios is currently hard at work on The Elder Scrolls 6, which is still without a release date or window. Todd Howard will serve as the game’s director but beyond that and a vague teaser trailer, we have no other information to go on, including which province it will be set in or how long after Skyrim will the game’s events take place.

A recent report claimed that The Elder Scrolls 6 will be set in both Hammerfell and High Rock as a nod to Daggerfall. Other points from the same leak reveal that dragons will return and the game will have at least 12-13 big cities to explore. Naval battles and ship building inspired by Starfield will also apparently be included along with underwater exploration. There’s no way to verify if this information is correct so take it with a pinch of salt until we get an official confirmation from Bethesda.
