Palworld

Palworld Was Played by Over 32 Million Players in First Year

When Palworld launched last year, it quickly became one of 2024’s biggest releases, reaching millions of players worldwide on Xbox and PC. While it ran into a spot of controversy with Nintendo and immediate comparisons to Pokemon, that didn’t stop it from amassing just as many enthusiastic players as Nintendo’s flagship monster trainer. According to developer Pocketpair, Palworld was played by more than 32 million players in its first year alone.

Despite launching in early access, Palworld still managed to attract very large crowds across Xbox, PlayStation and PC. Its success was no doubt helped by its inclusion on Xbox Game Pass when it launched, which let players jump into the game by simply having an active subscription to Microsoft’s service. However, the game still sold incredibly well on PC and later continued to sell well on PS5 too. In total, Pocketpair says over 32 million players enjoyed the game since its launch in January 2024.

Pocketpair says it will continue to support and build on the early access version of Palworld. Future updates include planned features such as co-op crossplay, world transfers for Pals and even a final boss with an ending scenario to complete the story experience.

Additionally, the developer is also working on ways to further strengthen and improve Pals alongside various improvements to world object placement, optimisation and UX. Pocketpair plans to feature crossovers with various franchises such as Terraria, though there will probably be more down the line. The good news is that Pocketpair currently has no plans to turn Palworld into a live service or free-to-play game. While the early access game preview will still be available on Xbox Game Pass, it will remain paid on PS5 and PC.
