Persona 3 Portable Remaster Reportedly in Development

Persona 3 Portable is reportedly getting a multiplatform remaster from Atlus, at least according to a leaker who seemingly has a reliable track record. However, a Persona dataminer stated that it’s not actually a remaster of Portable, but rather that it’s related to Persona 3 in some way. No further information was given.

According to insider Zippo, Persona 3 Portable will receive a remaster for multiple platforms, as it was previously released on Sony’s PSP. The fact that Persona 4 Arena Ultimax for PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC was announced at The Game Awards may lend some credibility to this rumour, as Atlus has been quietly working on several Persona projects in celebration of the series’ 25th anniversary.

Persona dataminer Pan-hime recently addressed Zippo’s supposed leak, stating that it’s not Persona 3 Portable getting remastered, but rather another “P3 game” instead. What this means is anyone’s guess, though some have speculated that it’s a remake of Persona 3 FES, which includes an additional story, The Answer, that takes place after the events of the main game. As with all rumours, take this with a grain of salt for now.

Atlus previously announced that, in celebration of Persona‘s 25th anniversary, multiple Persona projects were in the works. Most fans believe that Persona 6 might be on the table, though it’s likely several years away from release. That said, Persona 5 has already received a new complete edition in Persona 5 Royal, which adds a new storyline and character to the critically acclaimed JRPG, as well as Persona 5 Strikers, an action-heavy Musou game that acts as a direct sequel to the main game. Persona 4 Arena Ultimax coming to more consoles was simply the first of many announcements, and a Persona 3 remaster would certainly make fans very happy.
