Persona 3 Reload and Metaphor: ReFantazio Heading to Switch 2 – Report

Nintendo has yet to officially announce the successor to the Switch, dubbed the “Switch 2” by fans, though reports are coming out revealing that some anticipated third-party games will be heading to the unannounced new hardware. According to a prominent leaker, Atlus is reportedly planning on releasing both Persona 3 Reload and its new IP, Metaphor: ReFantazio, on the Switch 2.

The report originates from Midori who has a good track record of accurate leaks involving Sega and Atlus. The leaker has reaffirmed that Persona 3 Reload and Metaphor: ReFantanzio, two high-profile Atlus titles, will be heading to the Nintendo Switch 2 at some point. Some fans speculate that either game could be a launch title for the Switch 2, though we’ll have to wait and see whether this pans out or not.

Persona 3 Reload launched last month as a ground-up remake of the original Persona 3, complete with additional content, improved animations and cutscenes and a sleeker UI that brings it closer to the style of Persona 5. It received mostly positive reviews from critics and fans (read our full review to find out our thoughts). As of writing, Reload is currently the highest-selling Atlus game in the company’s history, selling one million copies in its first week of release.

Meanwhile, Atlus previously announced Metaphor: ReFantazio during June 2023’s Xbox Games Showcase. Heavily inspired by Shin Megami Tensei and Persona with similar art styles and battle systems, it marks the company’s first original IP in years. Some have called it a spiritual successor to Persona which is fitting.

In other news, a new report claimed that Persona 6 will once again return to a high school setting. This is par for the course for the franchise as every previous Persona game revolved around high school students.

Persona 3 Reload is available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
