Developer Atlus is still quietly working on Persona 6 but that hasn’t stopped the studio from filling in the blank years with more Persona games. Last year, the company released the acclaimed Persona 3 Reload, a remake of the third game in the series. Now, a new report claims that a remake of Persona 4 is also on the way and might be announced at the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase set for June.
The rumour originates from leaker eXtas1s, who has a decent track record of industry leaks. The leaker claims that a remake of Persona 4 will be announced at the Xbox Games Showcase in June, which is a fair assumption as Atlus has partnered with Microsoft before for reveals.
Persona 4 Golden, a more complete and comprehensive version of the game, is already available on modern hardware but Atlus seems to want to give it the full remake treatment just like its predecessor. As with all rumours and reports, take this with a pinch of salt until we get an announcement from Atlus.
The description for Persona 4 Golden reads:
“Inaba—a quiet town in rural Japan sets the scene for budding adolescence in Persona 4 Golden. A coming of age story that sets the protagonist and his friends on a journey kickstarted by a chain of serial murders. Explore meeting kindred spirits, feelings of belonging, and even confronting the darker sides of one’s self.”
The Xbox Games Showcase taking place this June will be followed up by a Direct that will focus on The Outer Worlds 2, the next sci-fi RPG from Obsidian Entertainment which is scheduled to release this year. There’s plenty of speculation about what could be shown at the main event as Microsoft still has a number of first-party games in the works including Playground Games’ Fable, Perfect Dark and Gears of War: E-Day, among others.
In the meantime, you can play Persona 4 Golden on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Nintendo Switch.
