Persona 5 Royal Xbox PC 45 DLC Items Free

Persona 5 Royal PS4 Save Data Can’t be Transferred to PS5 Version

Persona 5 Royal is set to arrive on PS5 via an enhanced version next month, bringing with it dozens of DLC items, expanded story content and technical improvements. Fans were upset to find out that the game wouldn’t allow owners of the PS4 version to upgrade to the PS5 version, meaning they would have to purchase it again. In another unsurprising move, it turns out that you can’t transfer your PS4 save data to the PS5 version either.

Twitter user Faz discovered the updated description of Persona 5 Royal‘s PS5 version on the PlayStation Store, which clearly mentions that, “Save data cannot be shared with the PS4 version of Persona 5 Royal.” Fans planning on buying the game again on PS5 will simply have to restart the 100-hour journey.

MORE PERSONA – Persona 2 and 3 Top Fan Requested Remakes from Atlus Survey

Persona 5 Royal is an expanded release of the original Persona 5, featuring new story content, costumes, side activities and much more. Like Persona 4 Golden, this might be the definitive way to experience one of the best games of 2017.

Atlus has been making confusing decisions regarding the PS5 version of Persona 5 Royal. The game was originally announced to arrive on current-gen consoles a few months ago, with Persona 4 Golden and Persona 3 Portable also being added at a later stage. Atlus first confirmed that players wouldn’t have an upgrade path for the PS4 version to PS5 and now there’s no way to transfer your save data either.

Then again, Persona 5 Royal isn’t the first game to do this and won’t be the last. It just seems like Atlus really wants players to experience Persona 5 Royal on PS5 from scratch, whether you’ve already played it or not.

In related news, Atlus says don’t expect any announcements relating to Persona 6 or future installments during an upcoming Persona-themed live show.

Persona 5 Royal releases on 21 October 2022 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
