Persona 6 will reportedly release day one on Xbox, according to a recent rumour. Developer Atlus previously made Persona 5 a timed exclusive to PlayStation consoles, leading many to believe that its sequel will have a similar deal in place. However, considering Microsoft’s growing relationship with publisher Sega and Atlus, it’s no surprise that we might see Persona 6 available on a lot more platforms at launch.
The rumour originates from Xbox Era podcast host Shpeshal Nick, who has a decent track record of insider information and accurate leaks. According to the leaker, the unannounced Persona 6 will release day one on Xbox – a first for the series as it historically launched on PlayStation platforms first. It seems like Phil Spencer is adamant about not excluding the next Persona game from Xbox consoles on release.

Microsoft has been fostering a relationship with Sega and Atlus which led to Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden and Persona 5 Royal all being added to the Xbox Game Pass library. Atlus also announced its upcoming titles, including its new IP Metaphor: ReFantazio, during the Xbox Games Showcase back in June, so it makes sense that Microsoft would want to secure the next big Persona title on Xbox as well.
As for what has been leaked about Persona 6 so far, a previous report from June this year stated that its working title at Atlus is ‘Codename Carbon’ and that will launch on PS5 only. If Shpeshal Nick is correct, then it’s possible that a deal was only recently struck between Microsoft and Atlus regarding Persona 6‘s day one launch on Xbox.
As with all rumours and reports, take this with a pinch of salt until we get some official confirmation from Atlus or Sega. If the rumours are true, then we can possibly expect Persona 6 to be revealed at this year’s Tokyo Game Show.
