It’s no secret that Atlus is currently working on Persona 6. Back in 2021, the studio talked about the challenges of making a sixth entry that would exceed Persona 5. Another report from last month claimed that Atlus was making a big push for the Persona franchise in 2023 with reveals for Persona 6 and a remake of Persona 3 planned for this summer. However, a new report now states that the anticipated sixth game was delayed internally and won’t release this year.
The rumour comes from ResetEra user and prominent leaker Im A Hero Too, who recently claimed that Persona 6 was delayed internally at Atlus. The studio apparently has a release window in mind but the leaker couldn’t share any more information about that. Due to the internal delay, the sequel won’t see a release this year (which was presumably on the table).

Im A Hero Too’s full statement on Persona 6‘s internal delay reads:
“Absolute zero chance 6 releases this year. It was delayed internally just yesterday and there is a rough timeframe but can’t share, sorry. Could be to release remake first or the other game but I’m not privy to that info. If the teaser is at Sony’s next show, I’ll know beforehand and confirm.”
The leaker added that the Persona 3 remake could be the reason behind Persona 6 being delayed as Atlus might want to release the remake first. They also mention “the other game” though didn’t elaborate on what it is.
It’s still possible that Atlus will officially announce Persona 6 this year but we probably won’t get a concrete release date. That said, fans are already excited enough for the game to be revealed and hopefully, we can expect to see it in all its glory this summer. As with all rumours, take this with a pinch of salt for now.
