PewDiePie’s fans are dedicated and they know how to hack stuff. The gaming star’s fans decided to hack the Wall Street Journal on 17 December 2018. The hack, apparently performed by PewDiePie fans, involved taking over a sponsored post on the Wall Street Journal’s site and offering an apology to PewDiePie on behalf of the WSJ.
Apparently, PewDiePie fans targeted the WSJ’s site, because they felt that the New York City-based publication has misrepresented PewDiePie. The hack saw a sponsored post on the WSJ being altered to say the following:
WallStreet Journal would like to apologize to pewdiepie.
Due to misrepresentation by our journalists, those of whom have now been fired, we are sponsoring pewdiepie to reach maximum subscribers and beat Tseries to 80million.
We also need your credit card number, expiry date, and the lucky 3 digits on the back to win the chicken dinner in fortnite.
The WSJ has since taken down the hacked sponsored post. The publication is considered an enemy by PewDiePie fans based on an investigation run by the WSJ in 2017, which led to the revealing of anti-Semitic comments made by PewDiePie. After the WSJ had revealed its findings, the gaming star lost a few deals. Fans have since placed the blame on the WSJ for running the investigation and publishing its findings, as opposed to holding the gaming star accountable for his intolerant comments.
PewDiePie himself has addressed the hack in a Tweet linking to the hacked sponsored post (which has now been taken down).

This isn’t the first time that PewDiePie fans turned to hacking to promote the gaming star. In November 2018, a fan of PewDiePie’s took credit for hacking into printers and printing out papers which asked people to subscribe to PewDiePie’s successful YouTube channel. Apparently, the hackers have repeated this hack over the weekend and claimed to have taken over more than 100 000 printers. The latest message that’s printed out from the hacked printers again urges people to subscribe to PewDiePie’s YouTube channel.
PewDiePie has had one of the most successful YouTube channels for years, but has come under threat of late from T-Series. T-Series is an Indian record label that has increasingly become more popular on YouTube. At the time of writing this, PewDiePie has over 77 million YouTube subscribers and T-Series has over 75 million YouTube subscribers.
