Phantom Blade Zero Ninja Gaiden Early Impressions

Phantom Blade Zero Campaign is 30-50 Hours, Four Difficulty Modes and Boss Respawns Detailed

Phantom Blade Zero is shaping up to be quite the exciting action RPG. Last week, S-Game shared a new trailer for the game to celebrate Chinese New Year, and it was packed with awesome combat and a closer look at some weapons. S-Game has now detailed some of the gameplay mechanics in Phantom Blade Zero.

The gameplay details come from various Chinese gaming outlets who have interviewed S-Game in the past week following the trailer. According to the information, Phantom Blade Zero will launch with a decent-length campaign that will last players between 20-30 hours of game time. In addition, the studio says the game offers around 20 hours of side content to tackle.

When looking at the difficulty of Phantom Blade Zero, the game comes with four modes. There is easy, normal, hard, and extremely hard. S-Game says boss fights in the game often all consist of two phases. We saw this in the previous trailer where the boss, Seven Swords, transformed into a puppet-like fight, and the player had to adapt to the change.

S-Game says that boss fights will allow players to respawn in the fight during the second phase should they die during that phase. So, you won’t have to fight through the first phase again over and over.

In addition to the two-phase boss fights, S-Game says the Li Wulin mode in Phantom Blade Zero will allow players to replay defeated bosses and even access hidden ones. However, we don’t know how players will access this mode yet. Perhaps it is unlocked once you complete the game for the first time?

We already know that Phantom Blade Zero is a strict single-player RPG. The studio confirmed that it won’t include any microtransactions. In addition, the game is best described as a souls-like experience, but the studio says it is more approachable. This is likely thanks to the four difficulties you can choose from.

Phantom Blade Zero is expected to launch sometime this year. S-Game says the studio will reveal an exact date in the months ahead. The game is planned to launch on PS5 and PC.
