Nintendo has confirmed that the upcoming Switch exclusive Pikmin 4 comes with a character creation system which allows players to make their own character to join the Galactic Rescue team. This is the first time the Pikmin series has incorporated a character creation system and it is nice to see.
While the details were scarce, the trailer shows that players can choose from a range of features when making their character. This includes skin colour, eyes, face shape, hair and more. The character you create is done through an ID Badge system at the start of the game.

Pikmin 4 will also introduce a new type of Pikmin, the Ice Pikmin. This creature can freeze enemies and pools of water adding to the exploration and combat of the game. There’s also the Oatchi, a canine creature that can smash objects and even carry Pikmin around to help the player.
Pikmin 4 creator Shigeru Miyamoto says that the new Pikmin, and generally all of the returning ones will be easier to control than past games before.
Pikmin 4 is releasing on 21 July 2023 exclusively on the Nintendo Switch. While the game will unlikely smash The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom sales, I am sure there are plenty of excited fans out there who can’t wait to play it.
