Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 3 could be a confidential project in development at EA at the moment under this “Picnic” title. The game is apparantly undergoing “closed alpha playtesting” according to the screenshot.
The email found on ResetEra also reveals the alpha test is said to take place from 1-6 August 2019 and feature two game modes called Turf Takeover and Team Vanquish. Both of these game modes were in past Garden Warfare games too.
EA did announce earlier this year they plan on releasing a new Plants Vs Zombies and Need for Speed game before the end of the publisher’s fiscal year next April 2020 so this could be the PvZ game they were talking about.
The original Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare released in 2014 with the sequel releasing in early 2016. Both of which released to positive reviews and fan feedback making a third game a no-brainer for publisher EA Games.
If the game is indeed undergoing a closed alpha next month then EA could plan on announcing the game at Gamescom which takes place just a few weeks after the alpha test ends. We could also see its release by the end of 2019 or early 2020.
