PlayStation London Studios Announces Live-Service Co-Op Fantasy PS5 Game

PlayStation London Studios has announced its newest project. The studio which is best known for its VR games such as EyeToy and various games for the previous PlayStation VR headset is working on a new fantasy co-op title set in London. While the game doesn’t have a name yet, the studio was ready to discuss the overall premise for the title in an interview with GamesIndustry.

According to PlayStation London Studios co-head Stuart Whyte, the studio is working on a live-service online co-op game that is designed from the ground up for PS5 and is set in a fantasy London. Whyte says:

“We are proud of the history and innovation that we’ve done over the years, supporting all sorts of PlayStation technology. With this project, we really wanted to explore some new avenues and set ourselves some new challenges.”

The studio is making use of the Soho Engine to build this game. This is the same engine that has powered its previous titles. Whyte says that the studio was inspired by Guerrilla Games’ Horizon Zero Dawn saying that the studio was fascinated by how it went from making Killzone to Horizon. Whyte says this is the exact process that London Studios wants to undertake by tackling a project so far from what they are used to.

The game currently has no name or release window. All we know is that it will be a co-op fantasy game with live service elements. The game might also release on PS5 and PC at the same time. Sony revealed earlier this month that the company plans on releasing its live-service games on both PC and PS5 at launch. However, that isn’t clear that this stage.
