The ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X were recently announced during the Xbox Games Showcase, promising a Windows-ready new handheld device from ASUS and Microsoft. Due to Windows PC being readily available on the handheld system, many fans wondered if it would be possible to play PlayStation games on the portable hardware. As it turns out, yes they can.
A Microsoft spokeperson recently told Game File: “Because these handhelds run Windows, you have access to all the games you can play on Windows PC.” Essentially, this also means that you’ll be able to play PlayStation PC games on the handheld device such as God of War, Days Gone, Horizon Zero Dawn, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Ghost of Tsushima and Helldivers 2, among others.
To add a little more value for money, the ROG Xbox Ally is also expected to use PlayStation remote play from your PS5, meaning you can take your PS5 games on the go with the devices.
A release date for the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X hasn’t been announced yet, though fans can expect it to arrive in the holiday 2025 window. Shawn Yen, Head of the Consumer product team at ASUS, said: “We wanted to take our handheld to the next level, but we could not do it alone. This revolutionary partnership with Microsoft allowed us to forge a brand new device with ROG muscle and the soul of Xbox.”
