With the Xbox Games with Gold finally being one of the best months ever for the service, I couldn’t help but wonder how the PlayStation Plus August 2019 free games would stack up and for the first time this year, I think it might be a tie. Sony continues the trend of two big free titles each month and the PlayStation Plus August 2019 lineup is without a doubt absolutely fantastic.

Let’s not beat around the bush here. The first free title is actually a collection of games in the WipEout Omega Collection for those speed freaks out there. The package contains WipEout 2048, WipEout HD and the HD Fury expansion and you can also experience the entire collection in VR if you own a PSVR of course. The collection has seen rave reviews from critics and sits on an 85/100 Metacritic average.
Now, onto Sniper Elite 4, Rebellions 2017 tactical stealth shooter that is probably one of the most underrated games of 2017. Sniper Elite 4 might not be everyone’s cup of tea but trust me, once you shoot a Nazi in the eye from more than 1km away you won’t put the game down until you finish it. Sniper Elite 4 is currently sitting at a 77/100 on Metacritic, which isn’t bad at all, especially now that you can grab it for free.
The PlayStation Plus August 2019 lineup will be available for download from 6 August 2019 until 2 September 2019. Don’t forget to grab the July 2019 lineup if you haven’t already, featuring the awesome Detroit: Become Human and Horizon Chase Turbo.

WipEout Omega Collection
Combining WipEout 2048, WipEout HD and the HD Fury expansion into one turbo-charged package, Wipeout Omega Collection brings the breakneck speed and combat thrills of the anti-gravity racing franchise to PS4.

Sniper Elite 4
Slip behind enemy lines and work to drive out Axis forces from the Italian peninsula. Scout huge, varied environments as a covert operative and take out enemies before setting up the perfect hit on high-value targets.
Use a mixture of traps and explosives, hazardous environments, melee takedowns and, of course, your trusty rifle to sow chaos in enemy strongholds. For even greater strategy, team up with a friend online* to take down targets in the co-operative campaign mode or enjoy dedicated co-op missions for two to four players and competitive multiplayer modes for up to 12 players.
