If you’re a PlayStation Plus member and wondering where Sony’s annual discount is for your subscription, you’re out of luck. Sony isn’t offering a discount to all existing members. Instead, the current deal is guaranteed for new users while at the same time, select subscribers have been offered slight discounts to add and upgrade additional memberships.
PS4 and PS5 owners usually wait until Black Friday to splurge on their PlayStation Plus subscriptions. Users add an additional year or two by saving 25% during the promotion. Sadly, that isn’t the case this year. If you’re not a member, you can save on any of the three available tiers. Deluxe is 30% off, Extra is 25% off and Essential is 20% off. However, even then, users report seeing different discounts in different regions around the world.
It seems this promotion isn’t set in stone. Certain existing Essential, Extra and Deluxe users claim that Sony has emailed them with a “special offer” to stack another year to their service and upgrade to a higher tier at a discounted rate. Some users claim to have not been offered the option at all.
Some GLITCHED readers reached out to ask if there wasn’t a promotion available because they couldn’t see any savings. Usually, this includes all members to some degree.
So if you’re not seeing the discount when you visit the PlayStation Store Black Friday page, you’re not alone. Sony is selecting a few users to offer discounts to. These special offers are being emailed to them so check your emails in case Sony thinks you’re good enough for a discount. If you don’t get an email, you’ll have to just suck it up and pay full price when your service expires and renews.
I know my PlayStation Plus Deluxe renews on 11 January for R1879 right after Christmas. It is painful. If you do need to upgrade or subscribe, you can check your current rate here.
