Subscribers to Sony’s PlayStation Plus subscription service might’ve received some daunting news recently about a price hike taking effect from June this year. We’ve managed to put together most of the information received from various emails to reveal the local pricing.
As it stands, PlayStation Plus will see a price bump across all of its core tiers Essential, Extra and Deluxe. The following information was gathered from emails sent by PlayStation to various accounts locally, though we’re still waiting on more details directly from PlayStation South Africa in the meantime. We will keep you updated. Here’s what the price bumps look like:
PlayStation Plus Essential, Extra and Deluxe Pricing
1-Month
- Essential – R139 (was R119)
- Extra – TBD
- Deluxe – R249 (was R209)
12-Month
- Essential – R1109 (was R949)
- Extra – R1869 (was R1609)
- Deluxe – R2199 (was R1879)
The good news is this price hike won’t take effect until 24 June 2025. That said, this comes with a caveat. PlayStation explained: “However, any subscription changes you make prior to your next payment, such as upgrades, downgrades or buying additional time, will update your plan based on the new prices.” Unfortunately, those already subscribed won’t be able to upgrade or add additional time for the older prices.
