PlayStation Showcase 24 May 2023 Sony

PlayStation Showcase Officially Announced for 24 May

Sony has officially announced its next major PlayStation Showcase set to take place next week Wednesday, 24 May 2023. The event is expected to run for a bit over an hour and feature PS5 and PS VR2 announcements as well as updates from PlayStation’s first-party studios with some third-party reveals included.

Sony announced the news on a recent PlayStation blog post, confirming the next PlayStation Showcase following months of rumours and speculation. The event will take place on 24 May at 1pm PT or 10pm CAT for South Africans. Sony didn’t offer too many details in the short blog post but we can presumably expect plenty of updates and announcements for big upcoming games.

The blog post provided by PlayStation reads:

“It’s almost time to see what’s next — PlayStation Showcase broadcasts live next Wednesday, May 24 at 1pm Pacific Time / 9pm British Time. The show will run a bit over an hour, focusing on PS5 and PS VR2 games in development from top studios from around the world. Expect a glimpse at several new creations from PlayStation Studios, as well as spellbinding games from our third-party partners and indie creators.”

As for what we can speculate at this point, it’s highly likely that we’ll see more of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 at the show. Insomniac Games’ anticipated superhero sequel is expected to launch in fall 2023 and the timing seems right for an update. Beyond that, we’ll hopefully hear more about Naughty Dog’s standalone Factions for The Last of Us and the rumoured secret project that’s been in development at God of War developer Santa Monica Studio.

We’ll just have to wait and see what else might be in store for us regarding third-party and indie games.

The PlayStation Showcase will be livestreamed on the official PlayStation channels for both YouTube and Twitch.
