With over 100 million Nintendo Switch consoles out in the world, shipping 6.5 million units of your new Pokemon game isn’t as difficult as it sounds. However, we still need to acknowledge this amazing achievement at Nintendo. Especially given how Pokemon Legends Arceus is a whole new adventure and if anything, a risk to begin with.
Nintendo has announced that the awesome open-world Pokemon game has shipped 6.5 million units worldwide since its launch on 28 January 2022.

High Pokemon game sales numbers are nothing new for the company but given Pokemon Legends’ brand-new direction, this milestone is quite impressive. Not every Pokemon fan out there agreed with Nintendo’s approach for Pokemon Legends Arceus but in the end, making the game a prequel to Pokemon Diamond and Pearl seems to have paid off.
Thank you to the more than 6.5 million explorers worldwide who have already embarked on an exciting new adventure in #PokemonLegendsArceus!

I reviewed Pokemon Legends Arceus at launch and absolutely loved every moment of the game. While its visuals leave much to be desired, the gameplay loop is fun and addictive and the game’s new open-world approach finally adds that “trainer” experience we have always wanted.
