Pokemon Legends Z-A could release in either summer or fall 2025, according to some new speculation. The game was announced earlier this year during a Nintendo Direct in February 2024, taking players back to the Kalos region from Pokemon X/Y – specifically, it’s rumoured that most of the game will take place in Lumiose City.
As reported by Pokebeach, The Pokemon Company recently began announcing Trading Card Game products for the first half of 2025. Fans noticed that no new cards or merchandise were related to Pokemon Legends Z-A. In the past, The Pokemon Company would release new TCG products simultaneously with the launch of new games. Since there’s nothing related to the upcoming Pokemon game, it’s safe to assume that Pokemon Legends Z-A will only release in either summer or fall 2025.
This also implies that Pokemon Legends Z-A could be a cross-gen game for the current Nintendo Switch as well as the Switch successor, which Nintendo says will be revealed before March 2025 (and possibly released sometime in 2025). Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is also speculated to be a cross-gen title.
As for details surrounding Pokemon Legends Z-A, nothing has officially been announced by Nintendo yet, leaving most of the information up to speculation based on the reveal trailer. We’ll likely get a closer, in-depth look at the game during a future Pokemon Showcase but for now, fans are quite excited at the prospect of returning to the Kalos region, especially those who followed the rumour train about Pokemon Z several years ago.
The only additional bit of information we have on Pokemon Legends Z-A, strangely enough, comes from Pokemon Scarlet/Violet. Back in March, fans found a connection in Scarlet/Violet to Legends Z-A. Cryptic lettering outside some buildings seemed to match up with the symbols featured in the game’s reveal trailer, though nobody has been able to decipher it yet.
