A multiplayer Pokemon game is reportedly set to be unveiled at this week’s Pokemon Presents event, according to a new leak. The codename for this title is Project Synapse and it was described as a “Splatoon-like” multiplayer game featuring Pokemon, whatever that could mean.
Project Synapse leaked as part of something called the Tera Leak, which revealed codenames for several Pokemon games currently in development. One of the projects revealed in this leak was Synapse (official title unannounced), a multiplayer Pokemon game being worked on by ILCA and Game Freak. Not much is actually known about this mystery project other than it will be a multiplayer game compared to Splatoon in some way, so we’ll have to wait and see.
Among the other Pokemon projects that could get the spotlight at this week’s Pokemon Presents event, Game Freak is also working on the next big Pokemon spin-off, Pokemon Legends Z-A. The game is set entirely in the Kalos region’s Lumiose City, which will be much larger than its X and Y depiction. Fans are expecting news and updates on the game at the Pokemon Presents event, especially since Amazon UK accidentally leaked its release date.
In other news, Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket for mobile recently added the ability to trade cards with other players, though it was locked behind a needlessly convoluted process and new currency. The Pokemon Company says it has heard the criticisms regarding the odd trading system in the game which will hopefully result in some changes to make trading cards with friends a bit easier than its current state.
There’s a good chance that Game Freak is also working on the next mainline Pokemon game too, which will likely launch on the Nintendo Switch 2. For now, its attention will be on Pokemon Legends Z-A until the game’s launch.
