The Pokemon Company hosted a Nintendo Direct stream late yesterday afternoon where they revealed the Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield release date along with a load of new gameplay details.
Nintendo revealed the game will be released on 15 November 2019 worldwide. The games will be sold as “Pokemon Sword” and “Pokemon Shield” but Nintendo will also be selling a double pack with two copies of the game. One of each. No pricing has been released yet but if they both sell for R899, expect the double pack to be double the price.
Nintendo also revealed the two new legendary Pokemon which, believe it or not, are “sword and shield” representations.
The new gameplay trailer also touched on the exploration, gym battles and of course new Pokemon. Only a handful of the new generation of Pokemon has been revealed so far such as Wooloo, a sheep Pokemon. Gossifleur, a grass-type flowring Pokemon. Drednaw a “bite” Pokemon. Eldegoos, a cotton bloom Pokemon and Corviknight, a raven Pokemon.
Raid Battles will be coming to the game for the first time where players will be able to fight alongside friends to take down ultra-powerful Pokemon. During these fights, certain Pokemon are able to undergo “Dynamax” evolutions which greatly increase their stats and size. Defeating these Pokemon grant players large amounts of XP, rare Pokemon and other rewards.
Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield take place in a new open world setting where players can explore the lands, fish and hunt down Pokemon. It is the biggest and most ambitious Pokemon game in the series. Check out the new trailer down below;
