Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket has been out for a few days already and has skyrocketed to the top of iOS and Google Play charts. The card-collecting mobile game sees players open booster packs in order to complete their card collections. The cards feature stunning artworks of Pokemon which span the original set of cards and new designs.
Of course, the mobile game does come with its own fair share of microtransactions. Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket includes a number of additional purchases. There’s a premium subscription that costs R199 a month and gold currency you can purchase to open more packs and reduce cooldowns on existing limitations.
It seems that users are throwing money at the game without much worry. Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket is reportedly raking in over $3 million per day. The game has made $12 million to date according to Appmagic.
The game is also quite popular across the globe. Japan accounts for 45% of users on the game with the US sitting at 25%. The rest of the user base spans across MENA and Australia.
The game has been downloaded 7.9 million times. iOS users are sitting at 3.3 million and Google Play at 4.2 million installs. While iOS is lower, the platform accounts for more revenue spent at $10.5 million of the $12 million. Google Play users have only spent $1.6 million on Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket.
The Pokemon Company says it has big plans for Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket. The game is currently running two events with more planned for the future. There are only three booster packs to open at the moment with over 200 cards to collect. Given the Pokemon TCG has thousands of cards, this game will likely grow into something spectacular for card collectors over time.
