PowerWash Simulator 2, the sequel to the surprisingly relaxing and excellent PowerWash Simulator from developer FuturLab and Square Enix, has been announced for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. The studio confirmed that the game will be out this year and includes a new campaign, new mechanics and more.
PowerWash Simulator 2 mostly continues the addictive gameplay loop established in the first game, where players have to powerwash a variety of buildings, items, vehicles and objects without stress. The sequel is taking things one step further by adding split-screen co-op to the experience, allowing users to also share their campaign progression online with other players. A new soap mechanic will also be introduced that lets players clean large areas much quicker.
Dan Chequer, design director at FuturLab, stated:
“PowerWash Simulator 2 feels like a natural evolution from its predecessor. The original game’s design was all about eliminating anything that detracted from the pure satisfaction of taking something dirty and making it clean. PowerWash Simulator 2 is all about adding in even more avenues for players to achieve that same sense of satisfaction, with new tools, features and quality of life improvements.”
Chris Mehers, COO of FuturLab, confirmed that the first game was played by over 17 million players worldwide, no doubt thanks to its inclusion on Xbox Game Pass and having a relatively cheap price point. Mehers also mentioned that thanks to the first game’s success, the sequel will be self-published, meaning Square Enix will not handle any publishing duties this time. We probably won’t be getting more awesome Final Fantasy crossovers.
Interestingly, PowerWash Simulator 2 doesn’t mention the Nintendo Switch 2 as platforms it will be available on, though we presume the studio is just waiting for Nintendo to reveal more about the console on 2 April before making that announcement.
PowerWash Simulator 2 launches in late 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Wash the full announcement trailer below.
