Ubisoft Toronto has been called in to help on the development of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. This follows a report from back in April claiming that the game’s development had been completely overhauled and started from scratch following a disastrous reveal in 2020.
It seems like Ubisoft has called one of its A-teams to assist in the development of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. The ambitious remake originally began development under Ubisoft Mumbai and Ubisoft Prune when the game was initially revealed in 2020, though it was heavily criticised by fans for its dated visuals. Ubisoft took the game back to the drawing board and for the last few years, reportedly throwing out the original studios in favour of a combined effort from its internal teams.
As it turns out, Ubisoft Toronto, the development team behind Far Cry 5, Far Cry 6 and Watch Dogs: Legion, is now getting hands-on with Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. The studio put out a message on Twitter/X recently confirming its involvement in the project.

If the previous report is accurate, then it’s not just the visuals that have gone through a makeover but the gameplay as well, apparently bringing it more in line with the original title. We’ll have to wait and see if the game does make a re-appearance in the near future as the next Ubisoft Forward event is right around the corner.
