Project Bloom Game Freak Private Division

Private Division Working With Pokemon Studio Game Freak on New IP

Take-Two has signed a deal with Game Freak to publish a new IP which is a collaboration between the Pokemon developer and Private Division. The game is currently under the codename Project Bloom and Take-Two says it is expected to arrive during its 2026 fiscal year which ends in March 2026.

There are virtually no details on Project Bloom at this time apart from concept art provided by Game Freak during the announcement. The artwork shows a samurai-looking character in a vast forest.

Project Bloom is still in early development. By the sound of things, Private Division and Game Freak have been working on the game for quite some time already. Take-Two’s publishing agreement cements the distribution and marketing deal in place for the game.

Game Freak is well-known for its Pokemon franchise. The company has been around for over 30 years now and has released countless games based on the popular series. However, Game Freak has worked on other titles which aren’t Pokemon related in the past.

Some of these gems include games like Harmoknight, Pulseman and Yoshi’s first game back in 1991. In a statement, Game Freak director Kota Furushima said:

“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to create new IP that is bold and tonally different from our prior work. From the beginning, Private Division was the publisher we wanted to work with on our new game. Their track record and global expertise give us all the confidence to create a sweeping new action-adventure game that we can’t wait to share more about in the future.”

Take-Two chief strategy officer Michael Worosz shared the same sentiment saying:

“We’re ready to help Game Freak unleash their potential and we’re honored to be the first Western publisher to work alongside this exceptionally talented and proven team to bring a bold new IP to market.”

The new Project Bloom title stems from Game Freak’s internal Gear Project. The project allowed developers working at the studio the ability to pitch game ideas to the company when Pokemon development wasn’t at its busiest. Clearly, one of the projects has finally been greenlit.

It will be a while before we get to see this new game but given Game Freak’s previous track record, we can’t wait to see more.
