PS VR2 Appeared at GDC 2022 and Developers Love it

Sony’s PlayStation VR2 has yet to make a big splash via a showcase of the hardware, but it apparently impressed some developers when it appeared at the recent GDC 2022 (or Game Developers Conference). Judging by early reactions, the PS VR2 is great, though accounts of the product are mostly being kept under wraps.

The first impressions arrived via Chet Faliszek, a veteran developer who worked at Valve on games like Half-Life 2, the Portal and Left 4 Dead games and more. During his career, he also worked as a VR ambassador on other platforms, notably SteamVR and HTC Vive. Faliszek currently works at Vertigo Games, responsible for VR games like Arizona Sunshine and After The Fall.

Faliszek posted his first impressions on the PS VR2 on Twitter:

Had one of those VR moments today playing in the new PS VR2 hmd… You know where the world just feels different when you return? Sooooo good… thanks @yosp and @GregRicey for the demo and chat.”

His tweet was then posted on ResetEra, where another developer named m0dus responded to rave about the PS VR2. According to ResetEra, m0dus is a developer at Truant Pixel, which is currently working on an arcade action game called RUNNER, coming to PC and PS VR2. In response to Faliszek’s comment, m0dus said it is “not hyperbolic”.

Sony is reportedly gearing up to host a massive PlayStation Showcase this week where they’ll blow the lid open on the PS VR2. The headset was first unveiled earlier this year, complete with its final design, but we have yet to learn about the library of games that the system will support and what its capabilities are.

For the time being, we’ll have to hang tight and wait for PlayStation to reveal more about the PS VR2.
