PlayStation VR2 news is apparently coming very soon, according to renowned insider Jeff Grubb. According to Grubb, Sony might be gearing up for a big push of PS VR2 in the coming weeks, which aligns with previous reports of Sony possibly hosting an event in early June.
Speaking on his latest Grubbsnax podcast, Grubb stated that he’s heard “rumblings” of Sony pushing PS VR2 news soon. This might give us some insight into future titles coming to Sony’s new virtual reality headset, which is still without a concrete release date. However, a first extensive look at the headset and its upcoming exclusives would be welcomed.
Previous rumours suggested that Sony might host an event in early June, so it’s increasingly likely that there will be at least some time dedicated to showing off the PS VR2 and its various games.
Additionally, Sony has yet to provide updates on upcoming exclusives like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and God of War Ragnarok, the latter of which is expected to release sometime in 2022. A gameplay deep dive is long overdue for Sony Santa Monica Studio’s anticipated sequel.
The PS VR2 marks Sony’s second attempt at breaking into the virtual reality gaming sphere. The first PS VR fared relatively well with some stellar VR titles to headline the technology, including Moss, Farpoint and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, which allowed players to journey through the entire survival horror game in VR – an enticing selling point.
It’s possible that Sony will port Resident Evil Village onto PS VR2 along with a handful of other potential titles coming from its line-up of first-party studios. We’ll just have to sit tight and see if Grubb’s reports turn out to be true, but as with all rumours, take this with a grain of salt for now.
