Sony is releasing a new PS5 beta today that features new Remote Play settings and personalised 3D audio profiles. While it isn’t a substantial rollout, it does introduce some great improvements to the way users are allowed to access your PS5 console using Remote Play.
For the personalised 3D audio profile, players can now run a sound quality test for devices such as the Pulse Explore wireless earbuds or Pulse Elite wireless headset. This will analyse a number of factors before creating a personalised profile that fits your hearing characteristics and preferences. Players will need to go to Settings > Sound > 3D Audio on PS5 and simply follow the instructions. Afterwards, you’ll be able to save your audio profile on the console.
As for the Remote Play settings changes, Sony provided a more detailed breakdown of how it works:
“You can now adjust Remote Play settings per user and choose who is allowed to connect to your PS5 console using Remote Play. So, if your friends or family members come over and sign in to your PS5 console with their account for PlayStation Network, you can easily modify who can continue to access your PS5 console using Remote Play when they leave. To adjust these settings, go to [Settings] > [System] > [Remote Play] > [Enable Remote Play], and choose which user you want to enable access to your PS5 console through Remote Play.”
In related news, the PS5 still has a substantial lead in the market over Xbox Series X/S despite a small decline in sales. In some regions, it’s estimated that Sony’s console is outselling Microsoft’s console almost 5-to-1. Microsoft has made it clear that the future of Xbox might not even need consoles as the focus is now all on the growth of its subscription service, Xbox Game Pass. It will be interesting to see how the next generation of consoles pans out.
