Last week, a new dinosaur horror game called Code Violet was unveiled for PS5. Coming from the four-person development team TeamKill Media, the sci-fi horror has been compared to Dino Crisis quite a bit. In fact, the team calls it a spiritual successor to Capcom’s iconic dinosaur title. As of writing though, TeamKill Media is actively avoiding releasing the game on PC because it doesn’t want its characters to be tarnished by adult mods.
Code Violet will be released exclusively on PS5 this July, though PC players will be left in the cold on this release. According to TeamKill Media, the studio has some concerns about PC players making adult or pornographic mods of the game’s characters. It currently has no plans to bring the game to PC. “For those asking us about a PC version of Code Violet… the reason we are not bringing it to PC is we do not want anyone modding vulgar versions of the main character as well as other characters in the game,” said TeamKill Media on X.
The studio continued:
“We hold our voice actresses and actors with high regard, as well as our artistic vision for the game and story and reject any form of destroying that with sexual mods. Making a joke out of our art and possibly tarnishing the reputation of our voice actresses and actors is not worth the extra money we can make.”
In another post, TeamKill Media stressed, “We are not against PC gamers or the PC platform. We are not against modders and some of the fun mods they make. But we are 100% against pornographic mods… period.”
As for Xbox, TeamKill Media said it would need more staff and resources to bring Code Violet to Xbox Series X/S in the future. “We don’t have the time or expertise to devote to the Xbox platform at this point in time,” said the company.
It seems like adult mods are becoming quite an issue for many developers. Last year, Square Enix urged PC players to not make ‘inappropriate’ mods for Final Fantasy XVI. Just this week, Koei Tecmo said it was cracking down on over 3,000 pieces of adult fanart and content made from the Dead or Alive series.
