Housemarque and PlayStation have decided to delay the upcoming roguelike third-person shooter Returnal. In a tweet, PlayStation says that the development team need more time to get the project to where they want it to be. The game was initially set to release on 19 March 2021 and is a PS5 exclusive.
Update: Returnal has a new release date of April 30, 2021. SIE and Housemarque have made the decision to move the release date in order to give the team extra time to continue to polish the game to the level of quality players expect from Housemarque.

The announcement means the game won’t make its planned release and gamers need to wait six weeks longer before they can jump into the shooter. Returnal was initially announced back at Sony’s PS5 reveal event in June last year. Players take the role of a space pilot named Selene who is trapped on an alien planet and unable to due. When she does die, she returns back to life to repeat the process over and over again.
Sony has showcased Returnal a few times already. Selene can pick up weapons and gadgets as she explores the alien planet. She can use various weapons to fight her way through the deadly creatures including guns, swords and even a parasite that attaches to her arm. We don’t know how the roguelike mechanics work at this stage and whether or not Selene gets to hold onto some of the gear when she dies.
Returnal is looking great but at the same time, it is a pricey game set at $69,99 and R1,399. Let us hope it is worth the price tag. Check out the latest Returnal trailer down below:
