Sony will be showcasing the PS5 for the first time today at 18:00 South African time but we will most likely not get the full breakdown of the upcoming next-gen console today. Knowing Sony’s track record, chances are they will not be revealing the actual PlayStation 5 console, release date and pricing during the event. However, that does not mean the PS5 will be delayed. Well, yet anyway. According to PlayStation’s PR agency in Amsterdam, who spoke to LetsGoDigital, the console is still on track for its undisclosed release date this year.
LetsGoDigital claims to have word from Sony PlayStation’s PR agency that the upcoming PlayStation 5 has not been delayed by the coronavirus pandemic. However, it is still possible that the virus may cause delays in the future if the pandemic grows.
Last month, reports claimed that Sony was struggling to nail down flash storage stock due to the impact of the coronavirus around the world. This led to the delay in the console’s reveal which was meant to take place in February.
Sony will be unveiling the PS5 today so we will hopefully have some sort of idea on the company’s plans for the year ahead and confirm if it has been delayed. In the meantime, practice that social distancing and help prevent the spread of this virus so we can have a new console at the end of the year.
