Sony says they won’t just go ahead and announce that PS5 pre-orders are open without any fair warning. In an interview with Geoff Keighley, PlayStation Worldwide Head of Marketing Eric Lampel claims that Sony knows what they are doing. Eric claims Sony will give users advance notice before announcing any pre-orders for the PlayStation 5.

It seems that Sony wants users to prepare for the moment when they pre-order their PS5. The company may also restrict users to one console per customer. A recent source code leak on the direct.playstation.com site revealed the possibility of one console per customer.
The code reads.

Sony may limit PlayStation 5 pre-orders for every customer in order to meet the demand. It was revealed last week that the company would increase the output of the console from 5 million to 10 million. However, that does not mean there will be enough for users to pre-orders two consoles.
When will PS5 pre-orders open? We have no idea but given the console’s planned release for November 2020, Sony may launch the pre-order program in the coming months. Sources claim the company will host another PS5 event stream in August. Perhaps that’s when we will see and hear more about the price and pre-order date? Who knows.
