PS5 production has doubled according to Bloomberg. As we previously reported, Sony planned on producing a limited number of consoles this year due to high manufacturing costs brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the situation has changed. Sony will now produce 10 million PlayStation 5 units by the end of 2020 to meet the demand worldwide. Several people close to Sony claim that the increase arrived due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The company originally planned on manufacturing 5 million by the end of 2020 with more to be produced by March 2021. However, since the official reveal last month, interest for the upcoming next-gen console has increased. However, it is not all good news. Sony still faces logistic challenges this year as the company plans on shipping the console worldwide by the end of 2020. The current global pandemic could be a challenge for the launch of the PS5.
Bloomberg reports that this radical increase in orders for the PS5 will pose even more challenge for Sony as they try to meet global logistics demands. Shipping 10 million consoles worldwide within months of making them could be a real task.
