The PS5 is a huge device thanks to its massive size. Currently, it is the biggest gaming console in modern history. However, one thing all gamers are asking themselves is whether or not the console is going to fit on their TV unit/stand. I am worried I don’t have enough space for it myself. Over on Twitter, 3D modeller and illustrator @keisawada put together a series of images taking the real-world sizes of the consoles and putting them together on a TV unit. While this does not accurately represent everyone’s gaming setup, it should help by giving you an estimate of how much space you need for the PlayStation 5.

In case you missed it, the PlayStation 5 is 390mm tall, 260mm deep and 104mm thick. The PS5 Digital Edition is 12mm slimmer than the disc-based console.
In the images which you can see down below, the PS5 is put next to a Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series X and an OG PS4 console. In addition, there’s a 30-inch TV. It is clear which console is the biggest here. The PS5 sits high above the rest of the consoles when it comes to the size height. The PlayStation 5 is also a lot deeper than the others too taking up more room across the counter. Anyone with a Nintendo Switch can imagine how tall the PlayStation 5 is by stacking three docked consoles on top of each other to get an estimate.

It is incredibly hard to imagine just how big the console is until you actually have it in your hands. However, this is a great place to start. The various 3D renders go a long way to show the amount of space the PS5 needs in order to sit comfortably on your counter.
So why is the PS5 size so huge? Well, it is to keep it cool. According to Matt MacLaurin, the vice president of UX Design at PlayStation, the console needs a lot of breathing space. Back in June, MacLaurin claimed that while the console is powerful, and the tech inside the PS5 is fairly new so it requires room to dissipate heat.
