PS5 PlayStation 5 Sony Next-Gen

PS5 Reveal Event – How Long is it, Where to Watch it and What to Expect?

The day has arrived. Sony will finally showcase some new PS5 news today in the first real stream event focused on the games lineup. Previously, Sony hosted a Road to PlayStation 5 stream where system architect Mark Cherny spoke about the power and tech inside the console. However, today’s stream will be the first of many events that include games both from first and third-party developers.

The PS5 Future of Gaming stream has been a long time coming. Originally, Sony was meant to reveal the console way back in February 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the company had to reshift its focus. The stream was meant to take place last week on 4 June 2020 but the company decided to delay it due to the George Floyd protests.

How Long is the PS5 Future of Gaming Event?

Sony claims the event will run well over an hour. However, the official livestream according to the PS4 Events tab states the stream will be two hours long. Keep in mind that some of this time may be put aside at the end for some discussion. We doubt it. If the stream is 2-hours long and it just showcases games, we won’t be surprised. We suspect it will last around 110 minutes.

When And Where Can I Watch it?

Sony is streaming the PlayStation 5 event online through Twitch and YouTube. If you rsvp to the event through the PS4 Events tab, your console will automatically launch YouTube when the stream starts. This is a great way to make sure you don’t miss a beat. You can also just watch it on your laptop or phone.

What to expect?

The two-hour stream will play host to a range of PS5 game reveals. This includes first and third-party titles. Some of the rumoured titles include;

  • Horizon The New Dawn (Horizon Zero Dawn 2)
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
  • God of War announcement
  • Gran Turismo 7
  • Batman (Capture the Batman)
  • Final Fantasy XVI
  • Demon’s Souls Remake
  • Rockstar title leaked on Amazon
  • Konami game (possibly Silent Hill)
  • Resident Evil 8

While non of these have been confirmed yet, they have all been popping up throughout the year in reports and rumours. Don’t be surprised if at least 80% of that list is real this evening.

Sony announced the company will host the event online in 1080p. However, soon after, they will upload 4k versions of the trailer to YouTube for viewers to watch. In addition, the company claims users should try to wear headphones during the stream and while watching these trailers. According to the Blog, the videos make use of fancy 3D Audio tech in the upcoming PlayStation 5 console.
